U.S. Antique Shows: When someone wants to work with you on designing a customer engagement ring, where does that process begin?

Jack Weir: When someone wants to design a custom engagement ring, the process begins with finding out what the customer wants in terms of type of diamond, ring style, and budget. We generally find anywhere from 3 to 6 stones to choose from.

U.S. Antique Shows: After you’ve worked with the client on selecting the diamond, what’s next?

JW: It’s extremely helpful when our customers share images of rings they love and make note of any modifications they want.

U.S. Antique Shows: What styles are trending right now in the engagement ring space?

JW: Old cut diamonds are easily the most sought-after stones lately. Old mine cuts and old European cut diamonds are the most requested diamonds, and we have reliable sources to find these stones at competitive prices.

U.S. Antique Shows: What are some of the benefits of working with Jack Weir & Sons on a custom engagement ring verses finding something “off the rack?”

JW: Working with us gives our customers the ability to create their dream ring exactly to their specifications. We work with a meticulous and extremely talented jeweler who specializes in our custom rings. We submit images and measurements, along with ring size and type of metal, and the jeweler sends CAD images of the new design within a week. We can then make any alterations needed and approve the final design. We, along with our jeweler, are committed to delivering a product that our customers are happy with. We want the final product to be better than expected, and this is always the case with our custom rings.

U.S. Antique Shows: What type of woman typically works with you on an engagement ring? Is there a “style” of woman? Is it a couple usually? 

JW: The type of woman that comes to us is one who knows what she wants and is ready to make her dream ring a reality. Although many women who come to us for custom rings are engaged, you don’t have to be hearing wedding bells to get your dream ring. Some women who are single want to wear a beautiful diamond ring also, and it’s just as exciting and fun to make their dream come true.
