Gus Davis co-founded the firm with Camilla Dietz Bergeron. Both from modest families in the south, they combined their passion for collecting and jewelry history. While Camilla passed away in 2018, Gus and his team are committed to continuing to honor her spirit, her vision and her impeccable style, embodying Camilla’s philosophy that “Chic isn’t some kind of formula; chic just is.” Gus also continues to share Camilla’s belief that women should feel empowered to buy their own jewelry, and even be involved in the process of picking out their own engagement ring. She often said that a woman’s jewelry should say, “Hello, I’m clever and witty and stylish” rather than, “Hello, I’m rich.”
It is this paradox of working with some of the most coveted treasures in the world, coupled with the evocation of a deep level of approachability, that makes Gus and the team at Camilla Dietz Bergeron so unique. While Gus employs a meticulous eye in the selection of the rare and collectable pieces he showcases to his clients, he sees the inherent beauty in more accessibly priced pieces as well. If it’s something that a woman is drawn to and it suits her individual taste and style, then in his mind, it’s perfection! He often notes that jewelry doesn’t need to be signed or considered “important” in order to be beautiful.
Gus, and his (in)famous dog Francesca, are regular fixtures at U.S. Antique Shows’ events, and one can often see the glamorous little Dachshund modeling Camilla Dietz Bergeron’s spectacular pieces on the brand’s Instagram account. While Francesca is a bit more reclusive, Gus is always happy to share his knowledge and expertise with clients, friends, or anyone who showcases an interest in vintage, antique and estate jewelry.
